FIRST IVF announces its first successful cytoplasmic transfer. Dr. Michael Fakih said his 44 year old patient is currently pregnant after this new micromanipulation procedure. Using her own eggs, a donor's cytoplasm was removed from her eggs and placed in the eggs of the patient. The child is the biological and genetic offspring of the patient and her husband. Dr. Fakih believes this revolutionary technique will be the breakthrough many women have been waiting for. Fakih says “When egg quality is a problem, experienced due to age or multiple failed IVF's, cytoplasmic transfer will allow women the ability to conceive with their own eggs.”
